Why earbud fit changes sound and noise cancelling

A good ear-tip seal affects both bass and isolation. Compare listening impressions and noise tests alongside comfort: an excellent result in a test fixture may not translate to your ears.

Separate passive seal from active cancellation

RTINGS distinguishes physical isolation from electronic cancellation. In-ear designs use an ear-tip seal, while ANC adds microphones and processing. Performance varies with frequency, fit and design. A broad claim of noise cancelling does not tell you how well voices, traffic or aircraft rumble are handled.

Read disagreement as useful information

If one reviewer praises comfort and another finds a bulky fit, the difference may matter more than a one-place ranking gap. Before opening a purchase, check the retailer's applicable return conditions for in-ear products.
