Choose for the room you actually have
Meaco's guidance generally favours compressor models above 10°C and desiccant models below it, with more nuance between 10°C and 15°C. That is manufacturer guidance, not a universal cutoff. Measure the coldest temperature during intended use and check the operating range of the exact model.

A litres-per-day claim depends on test temperature and humidity. A warm laboratory rating does not tell you how quickly a machine dries laundry in a cool spare room. Look for a reviewer who reports room conditions, load size, drying time and electricity use together. We currently withhold an overall dehumidifier review winner because the retained tests do not align well enough.
Think through the daily routine
Check where the tank comes out, how you carry it and whether a continuous drain can run as the manual requires. Laundry mode is a control feature, not proof of superior extraction. Compare the noise at the intended operating mode and the amount of warmth added to the room. A desiccant machine's heater can be welcome in a cold room but also increases electricity use.
